HOW THESE WORK
Each monthly calendar has a math problem in each day’s square on the calendar. Every day, you and your child read the math problem and fill in the answer. Then use a highlighter or yellow crayon and let your child “X” off that day. You could put a sticker on each day, too.
You may be wondering why bother with having your children do math during the summer.
But think of the time it takes to review when school starts back up in the fall. Usually math curriculums take 2-4 weeks to review last year’s skills taught. Your child will be prepared for the review or you may even can skip the review if the math skills are kept fresh on their minds in the summer.
These calendars are just one problem-a-day. And at this early age, math problems will not take very long to do. Most are mental math problems and don’t even require pencil and paper.
SUMMER MATH LOSS
Summer math loss is a real thing. Read all about it in this Harvard article.
