HOW THESE WORK

Each monthly calendar has a math problem in each day’s square on the calendar. Every day, you and your child read the math problem and fill in the answer.  Then use a highlighter or yellow crayon and let your child “X” off that day.  You could put a sticker on each day, too.

You may be wondering why bother with having your children do math during the summer.

But think of the time it takes to review when school starts back up in the fall.  Usually math curriculums take 2-4 weeks to review last year’s skills taught.  Your child will be prepared for the review or you may even can skip the review if the math skills are kept fresh on their minds in the summer.

Have a goal and reward!  Give your child something to look forward to.  Tell him that if he cheerfully does the math problem each day, he will get a small reward.  It’s up to you as to how often:  each week, each month.  Keep it easy and light and fun, not a chore to dread.
We want our kids to love math (or at least not to mind it!).

These calendars are just one problem-a-day.  And at this early age, math problems will not take very long to do.  Most are mental math problems and don’t even require pencil and paper.

SUMMER MATH LOSS

Summer math loss is a real thing.  Read all about it in this Harvard article.

What if your child gets an answer wrong?
That’s okay! These are NOT tests!
These calendars are meant to keep math on your child’s mind this summer and review what they learned the past school year.  If a problem is answered incorrectly, briefly go over how to get the correct answer. Then keep up somewhere which problems were missed so you will know what skills to review when school starts in the fall.

You will get 18 calendars (9 in full color, 9 in black-and-white) plus 18 answer keys (9 in full color, 9 in black-and-white) and directions.

Summer math review doesn’t have to be boring! Help your students review what they learned with you in a fun and creative way with these Summer Math Review Problem-A-Day Calendars!
